In April 2015, the Counicl of the Eurasian Economic Union announced an exemption from import duties for scrap of precious metals. The exemption was extended in 2017 and 2019, covering 2016-2022.

On 21 April 21 2015,, the Collegium of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved a temporary removal of import duties on waste and scrap of precious metals (Decision Nr. 32). The goods classified under the EEU customs codes 7112.30.00.00, 7112.91.00.00, 7112.92.00.00 and 7112.99.00.00 were subject to a tariff of 18% prior to the Decision. The exemption, valid between 1 June 2015 and 31 December 2016, was extended on 1 November 2016 (covering 2017-2019) and on 17 September 2019 (covering 2020-2022).
