On March 20, 2015, the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on imports of PVC coated fabric from China and the Republic of Korea (Circular No. 16, 20.03.2015). The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code: 3921.9019. The complaint was lodged on January 29, 2015 by Sansuy S/A Indústria de Plásticos. The investigation started on the day of the publication of the circular in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on March 23, 2015.
On 24 June 2016, the Brazilian authorities imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of the above-mentioned products from China and the Republic of Korea (Resolution No. 51, 23/06/2016). The rate of the duty imposed on imports from the Republic of Korea is USD 0.93, 0.32 or 0.29 per kg depending on the company. The rate of the duty imposed on imports from China is between USD 2.02 and 2.31 per kg depending on the company. The duty is in force for a period of five years.
On 28 September 2016, the Brazilian authorities amended the above definitive duty on imports of the subject good from China. The amended duty is between USD 1.80 and 2.11per kg depending on the company.
