Import tariff

On 13 March 2015, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) increased the tariff rate on wheat and wheaten flour. The HS codes in question are:

  • 1001.91 and 1001.99: tariff rate increase from 15.7/kg to 46.1/kg
  • 1101.00.10 and 1101.00.90: tariff rate increase from 23.5/kg to 69.2/kg

 
The duty applies to products entering the Southern African Customs Union (SACU). The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is exempted from the tariff.
