Import tariff

On 26 March 2011, Pakistan made an amendment to its policy for import of old and used cars, thereby leading to decreased customs duty on such imports. Since 2005, Pakistan has been fixing a cap on the customs duty and withholding taxes applicable on the imports of old and used vehicles. A reduction in duty payable was allowed at the rate of 2% per month of usage of the vehicle before such import, subject to a maximum of 50%. The cap of 50% has been increased to 60% for import of cars, and remains at 50% for all other kinds of transport vehicles.
