On 13 June 2012, the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture announced provisions 42/2012 regulating the import of fresh fruits and vegetables.
According to the regulation, imports from countries which are free of fruit flies can be conducted from any port. Imports from countries which are not free of fruit flies will have to go through one of the following:

  • Soekarno-Hatta, seaport of Makassar,
  • Tanjung Perak, seaport of Surabaya,
  • Belawan, seaport of Medan,
  • Soekarno-Hatta, Jakarta's international airport and
  • other places of entry designated as free trade and free port areas. (art. 14 of regulation 42/2012)

The regulation came into force on 19 June 2012 and replaced regulation 15/2012 (cf. Related Measures).
