Import tariff

Since 3 June 2014, numerous and consistent press reports have indicated the decision of the East African Community (consisting of the member states listed in the title) to increase the Common External Tariff on rice from 25% to 35%. Uganda, a member of the EAC, has opted out on the agreement as it is currently considering imposing a higher import duty (of 75%).
