On 18 May 2012, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) reduced the import tariffs of 220 capital goods to 2%. For an additional capital good, the import tariff was reduced to 4%. The products have been labeled as ex-tarifários, i.e. products with a tariff exception to the Mercosur Common External Tariff (TEC).
Update:
On 5 November 2012, Camex removed elevator guides (Ex 015 of NCM 8431.31.10; NCM, i.e., Mercosur Common Nomenclature) from the list of capital goods with tariff reduction. For the remaining products, the measure was in place until 31 December 2013.
