Import-related non-tariff measure, nes

On 18 April 2013, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued notification No. 4 (Re 2013/2009-2014), and thereby revised the import policy of cars manufactured before 1st January 1950 for Actual users, from 'restricted' to 'free'.

With a "restricted" policy, the import of vintage cars was only allowed under certain conditions by importers with a license. These have been lifted and vintage cars can be imported by any actual user. The earlier customs duty on such imports will still apply.

An Actual User is an individual who imports the goods for his own use.
