Import tariff quota

On 7 October 2013, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (Camex) reduced the import tariff on methanol (NCM 2905.11.00) from 12% to 0% for a quota of 282.500 tons and a period of 180 days. For this purpose the Camex had to exclude sorbitol (NCM 2905.44.00) from the List of Exceptions to the Mercosur Common External Tariff (Letec). The import tariff on Sorbitol was at 20% and is now back at 14% which is the official Mercosur Common External Tariff. Camex resolution no. 86/13 lasts from 7 October 2013 until 7 April 2014.
