Public procurement localisation
On July 17, 2013, the Government of Argentina ordered through Decree 1191/2012 that all public sector entities must procure air transportation for all trips domestic and international at Aerolíneas Argentinas or its subsidiary Austral Líneas Aéreas Cielos del Sur, and Líneas Aéreas del Estado. All airlines are owned by the Argentinean government. The measure takes effect on 19 July 2013.
Additionally, for destinations not covered by the above airlines, public entities shall procure air travel through the travel agency Optar, also a subsidiary of Aerolíneas Argentinas.
This measure applies to air travel of all public employees as well as consultants or other persons sponsored by the Argentinean government.
