On 9 February 2011, Ecuador's Trade Committee (Comité de Comerico Exterior COMEX) adopted Resolution No. 01/35 eliminating import tariffs on medicaments, insecticides and other chemical substances. This measure entered into force on 12 March 2011 for the period of one year.
On 17 May 2012, Ecuador's Trade Committee (Comité de Comerico Exterior COMEX) adopted Resolution No. 61 extending this measure until 31 December 2014.
