Pakistan has increased the duty drawback on the exports of deep freezers.

Tax-based export incentive

On 1 June 2021, Pakistan's Federal Board of Revenue through Notification SRO 644(I)/2021 increased the duty drawback on the exports of deep freezers from 3.56% of the FOB value to 3.98% of the FOB value of exports. The duty drawback is provided to reimburse the customs duties paid on the imports of certain raw materials used in the manufacture of these export goods.

The list of goods against the imports of which this duty drawback is provided has also been amended as below -

  • Earlier, the imported raw materials covered include accumulator, adhesive tape, aluminum fin stock, aluminum stucco embossed sheet, capillary tube, compressors, copper, tube, CRC steel sheets, desmodur, fan motor with accessories, filter drier, freon-11 and 134a, grease paste, PVC coating compound, plastic resin, polymers/co-polymers, and thermostat.
  • Henceforth, the raw materails covered include the following 24 items - Emb pcm coil, aluminium heat exchanger assy, lock for df twin/sd models, lugs ring type, lugs straight, hinge cf with spring, Cf hing sup cover df/twin, switch for control panel, capacitor for compressor, cu brazing ring, led bulb, al stucco coil diamong pattern, flame retardant additive, permagum vaber, refrigerant gas, isocynate, silicon sealant model n-transparent, flux powder for alumnimum brazing, and fulxmatic liquid flux.

The amdendment is effective from 1 June 2021.
