In April 2021, the United Kingdom announced the initiation of a transition investigation on imports of high fatigue performance steel concrete reinforcement bars from China. The investigation is still in progress.

On 29 April 2021, the Department for International Trade of the United Kingdom initiated a transition antidumping investigation following the issuance of the Trade Remedies (Dumping and Subsidisation) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019. The antidumping investigation concerns the imports of high fatigue performance steel concrete reinforcement bars from China. The products subject to investigation are classified under HS code subheading 7214.20.00.10, 722.214.171.124, 7126.96.36.199, 7188.8.131.52, 7184.108.40.206, 7220.127.116.11, 718.104.22.168 and 722.214.171.124.
The transition investigation concerns the existing EU trade defence duty introduced by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 2016/1246, issued in July 2016, see related state act.
This investigation was initiated by the Department for International Trade without an application from the domestic industry. The United Kingdom is at present only conducting reviews of existing EU trade defence interventions as part of the Trade Remedies (Dumping and Subsidisation) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (as amended).
