Export quota

On July 10th, 2020, the South Korean government approved an export restriction on filtering respirators, to prevent a critical shortage in the country due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the WTO, the affected goods were classified under tariff line 6307909000.

From July 12th until December 11th, 2020, upon fulfilment of any extant contractual obligations, domestic manufacturers of filtering respirators are not allowed to export more than half of their monthly production capacity, unless it is for government-approved humanitarian purposes.
