On 19 March 2020, the Algerian Customs announced an export ban on all kinds of food and medical products in response to the outbreak of COVID-19.

On 19 March 2020, the Algerian Customs announced an export ban on all kinds of food and medical products in response to the outbreak of COVID-19. The decision is effective from that date and until another decision is issued canceling this decision.
On 30 March 2020, the Algerian Customs issued a complementary decision including a detailed list of the specific 10-digit HS codes subject to this ban (attached), which included: "Semolina, fermentation material, legumes and rice, pasta, nutritional oils, sugar, coffee, mineral water, tomato paste, food preparations, milk in all its forms including formula milk, fresh vegetables and fruits except dates, red and white meat, medical and paramedical equipment, medicines and pharmaceuticals, physical care and home cleaning products. ”
Furthermore, the list indicated some exclusions from headings which will also be included in the ban, notably HS 0801220000, Ex 0801320000, Ex 0802121000, Ex 0802122000, Ex 0802220000, Ex 0802320000, Ex 0802420000, Ex 0802520000, Ex 0802620000, Ex 1105100000, Ex 1106101000, Ex 1106109100, Ex 1106109200, Ex 1106109300, Ex 1106109900, Ex 1106201000, Ex 1106209000, Ex 1106301000, Ex 1106302000, Ex 1106303000, Ex 1106304000, Ex 1106309000.
This decision comes within the framework of the Algerian President's speech on 17 March that indicated 12 measures to contain the effects and consequences of the Coronavirus epidemic.
