State loan

On 17 March 2020, the Australian regional government of Queensland approved a loan package to support businesses affected by the Coronavirus. The total budget announced was AUD 500 million (circa USD 298.6 million).

Queenslander companies will be able to access loans of up to AUD 250,000 (approx. USD 145,000) with an initial 12-months interest-free period. 

The purpose of this loan is to help companies retain staff despite the economic slow-down resultant from the pandemic.
