On January 29, 2013, the South African Department for Industry and Trade has designated valves, manual and pneumatic actuators, electrical and telecommunication cables, and components of solar water heaters as subject to the local content regulations under the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act.
Further details, such as the amounts and shares of local content involved, are still unknown: they will be revealed in the 2013 Industrial Policy Action Plan, forthcoming in April.
