In October 2019, the European Commission initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of certain hot-rolled stainless steel sheets and coils from China and Indonesia. The investigation was terminated in November 2020.

Anti-subsidy

On 10 October 2019, the European Commission initiated an anti-subsidy investigation on imports of certain hot-rolled stainless steel sheets and coils from China and Indonesia. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code subheadings: 7219.11, 7219.12, 7219.13, 7219.14, 7219.22, 7219.23, 7219.24, 7220.11 and 7220.12. This investigation follows the application lodged on 26 August 2019 by the European Steel Association Eurofer.

On 25 January 2020, the European Commission imposed an import registration requirement on the subject good from China and Indonesia for a period of nine months. The regulation imposing import registration requirements was issued on 24 January 2020.

On 9 November 2020, the European Commission issued Decision (EU) 2020/1653 of 6 November 2020 terminating the anti-subsidy investigation on imports of the subject good from China and Indonesia without the imposition of duties. The termination follows the applicants' withdrawal of their petition on 18 September 2020. The decision entered into force on 10 November 2020.
