Import tariff

On 5 June 2018, through a Decree of Council of Ministers on the import regime, the government of Turkey announced temporarily decreasing the import tariffs on sunflower seeds and sunflower seed oil classified in the Turkish Customs Tariff Schedule under the customs tariff codes 1206.00.91.00.19, 1206.00.99.00.19 and 1512.11.91.00.00.

According to the decree, in the period from 5 June 2018 to 1 August 2018, the government decreased the tariff rates on sunflower seeds from 27% to 13%, and in the same period, the government also decreased the tariff rates on sunflower seed oil from 36% to 23%. The revision in the import duty is made through an explanatory note in the tariff lines.

Import tariff

Effective from 1 August 2018, the government of Turkey increased the import tariffs on sunflower seeds and sunflower seed oil (customs tariff codes 1206.00.91.00.19, 1206.00.99.00.19 and 1512.11.91.00.00.) to 27% and 36% respectively. Previously the import tariffs on sunflower seeds and sunflower seed oil were 13% and 23% respectively.

On 26 June 2018, the government of Turkey announced a gradual increase in the tariff rates on sunflower seed oil against Bosnia & Herzegovina (see related state act).
