The Trade Commission of MERCOSUR has adopted new legislation allowing Argentina to set a temporary tariff-rate quota on thermoplastic printers.

Import tariff quota

On 26 October 2018, the Trade Commission of MERCOSUR has adopted Directive 60/18 allowing Argentina to establish a temporary 2% import duty on thermoplastic printer classified under tariffs subheading NCM 3707.90.21.

The new import duty applies for a quota of 1,000 tonnes. Previously to this legislation, no tariff rate quota applied to this product. 

According to the WTO tariff download facility, the applicable import tariff outside the quota is 8.8%.

Directive 60/18 only applies to Argentina for a period of 12 months.

The new legislation only affects countries outside the MERCOSUR.

 
MERCOSUR's Directives
Since 2014, all Directives adopted by the MERCOSUR concerning import tariff quotas adopted under the policy framework established by Resolution GMC 08/08 are adopted by a simplified procedure not requiring its publication on the Official Gazette.
