Import licensing requirement

On 4 March 2019, the Jordanian Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply issued Decree no. 28/2019 introducing import license requirements for white portland cement falling under HS code 2523.21.00.00.

The new mechanism sets steps and procedures for issuing import licenses for white portland cement. Most importantly, it specifies that issued licenses have a validation period of three months from the date of its issuance with two conditions:

  • the monthly approved quantities for one license do not exceed 2000 tonne,
  • the total quantity approved for all importers do not exceed 2000 tonne.
