Production subsidy

On 12 July 2016, the Russian Government allocated 3 billion rubles (USD 47 million) for subsidies to the manufacturers of gas-fueled buses and vehicles used for public and utilities services. The goal of the subsidy program is to enable manufacturers to offer price discounts to the buyers of the vehicles. Only vehicles running on methane produced in Russia after 1 January 2016 qualify for subsidization.

The amount of subsidy is equal to the amount of the discount offered on each unit sold, up to the limits set by the Government. Per-vehicle limits are 300 thousand -3.5 million rubles (USD 4700-54000) depending on the type and size of the vehicle.

Recipient manufacturers are obliged to increase sales compared to the preceding year or return the whole amount of subsidy. The scope of this subsidy was increased through an amendment in May 2017 (see related state act).
