In December 2018, the European Investment Bank (EIB) signed a credit line agreement with Banco de Sabadell, S.A. to support innovation and digitalisation investments carried out by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-cap companies in Spain and other EU countries.

State loan

The European Investment Bank (EIB) approved a EUR 150 million (approx. USD 169.5 million) credit to Banco de Sabadell, S.A. Under the credit line, the EIB and Banco de Sabadell signed a loan agreement having a total financing value of EUR 50 million on 14 December 2018. 

The credit line will, through Banco de Sabadell, S.A., support innovation and digitalisation investments carried out by small and medium-sized enterprises and mid-cap companies in Spain and other EU countries. The credit line is approved under the Programme Loan for Innovation & Digitalisation, see related state act.

According to the EIB: "This facility is dedicated to providing financing to SMEs and mid-caps for their innovation and digitalisation initiatives, thus improving their competitiveness."

On the same day, the EIB signed another credit line agreement with Banco de Sabadell, S.A., see related state act.
