In June 2017, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published the third annual list of firms that would be receiving subsidies to fund insurance cover for 'large technical equipment'.

In total, 185 firms were included in the list, including 146 new additions. 289 new equipment items were included, to bring the total up to 468.

To qualify for the subsidy, applicant firms must be Chinese, and the equipment must be essential to the 'current economic needs' of the PRC (this is not qualified). Coverage for foreign-made equipment can be acquired, as long as it is filling a gap in the 'technical capacity' of equipment offered domestically.
