Price stabilisation

On 19 June 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply of Brazil adopted the Ministerial Order 935 increasing the minimum price of certain cereals, cotton, beans, milk, cocoa and rice produced in some regions of the country. The minimum price on these products has increased by an average of 6.5% when compared to the prices set in the previous year, varying between 1.09% and 26.96%.

In the case of cotton, the minimum price has increased on average by 14.56%.

As for paddy rice, the reference price has increased by 1.19%. 

With regard to beans, the average increase of the minimum price was 2.7%, whereas, for cocoa, the average increase was 10.82%.

Concerning milk, the average reference price was increased by 10.58%.

The minimum price of corn increased in the north, midwest, southeast and south of the country by an average of 12.73%, whereas for sisal and soy, the increase was 26.96% and 2.36% respectively.

Finally, in the case of Sorghum, the reference price was increased in the midwest, southeast, south and north of the country, by an average of 8.38%.

The reference values set on this legislation apply for the 2018/2019 and 2019 harvests, and it entered into force on 20 June 2018.

Price stabilisation

Ministerial Order 935 issued on 19 June 2018 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Food Supply of Brazil also decreased the minimum price of corn and sorghum produced in certain regions of the country.

In the case of corn produced in the West of Bahia, south of Maranhão, south of Piaui and Rio Grande, the minimum price has decreased by 2.11% when compared to the values of the previous year.

As for sorghum produced in the West of Bahia, south of Maranhão, south of Piaui and Rio Grande, and the Northeast, the reference price has decreased by an average of 3.51% when compared to the prices set in the previous year.

The above-mentioned reference values apply for the 2018/2019 and 2019 harvests, and it entered into force on 20 June 2018.
