Import tariff quota

On 24 Mai 2018, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council issued Resolution 35 establishing a temporary 2% import duty for a certain quota on HS Codes 2915.40.10, 2929.10.10, 3302.90.90, 3904.90.00, 3909.31.00, 3919.90.90 and 3920.20.19. The import duty outside the quota has not changed from previous values which according to the WTO database should range between 8.67% and 16%. The quota was established for twelve months as it follows:

  • 4,500 tonnes for HS Code 2915.40.10;
  • 23,000 tonnes for HS Code 2929.10.10;
  • 1,250 tonnes for HS Code 3302.90.90;
  • 3,794 tonnes for HS Code 3904.90.00;
  • 105,000 for HS Code 3909.31.00;
  • 200 tonnes for HS Code 3919.90.90;
  • 600 tonnes for HS Code 3920.20.19.

The stated products did not benefit from an import tariff quota prior to this intervention.

In addition to the introduction of these import tariff quotas, Camex also extended the validity of the tariff rates quotas set by previous Resolutions on tariff lines 2921.19.23 and 5503.30.00 (please, see related state acts).

 
Update
On 22 May 2019, the Special Secretary for International Trade and Foreign Affairs of Brazil has adopted Ordinance No. 421 renewing for another twelve months the import tariff quota set on NCM 3302.90.90 and 3909.31.00.
 
On 4 May 2020, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council issued Resolution 36 renewing for another twelve months the import tariff quota set on NCM 3302.90.90 and 3909.31.00 starting on 27 May 2020.
