The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, effective from the fiscal year 2017, will urge companies employed in their jurisdiction to primarily employ local Emirati citizens for their data entry-related positions.

Local labour

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced that starting from 2017, companies that employ over 1000 workers as well as are registered with Tas’heel's online services, will for the first time be obliged to exclusively hire local Emirati residents for data entry positions available within their institutions.

The core scope of the prior is to enhance the pool of job opportunities that are available to UAE locals (which in turn is the core scope of the Emiratisation Program launched by the government of the United Arab Emirates).

 

Tas’heel

Tas’heel is an online United Arab Emirates government-based system which primary goal is to simplify as well as optimize the labour-related processes embedded in the corporations operating in the UAE jurisdiction. Specifically, Tas'heel as an online system allows corporations as well as typing centres to make online transactions and payments to MOL, encouraging a paperless environment. Therefore, eliminating the need for corporations to physically submit payments or documents.

 

Nota Bene: The official announcement does not explicitly provide the exact date when this intervention came into effect. Nevertheless, as the official announcement states that the intervention is in force 'starting from 2017', 1 January 2017 is assumed as the inception date.
