Anti-dumping

On September 23, 2011, the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa initiated an anti-dumping investigation on srew studding of steel and stainless stell imported from China. This was in response to a petition filed by the South African Fasteners Manufacturers Association (SAFMA) on behalf of the SACU industry. The petitioners alleged the existence of dumping on a comparison between the normal value in China and the export price from China (the normal value was determined based on a quotation provided by a manufacturer of thread rods on enquiry for collection at plant for use, whiles the export price was determined based on a quote as requested from an exporter in China).
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7318.1541 and 7318.1535.
The dumping is suspected to have occurred between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2004.
On February 1, 2013, the South African authorities terminated the investigation without imposing a duty.
