Import tariff quota

On May 10, 2017, the Brazilian Secretariat of Foreign Trade issued Ordinance No. 19 reducing temporarily the import duties on human serum albumin, certain synthetic filament yarn, chemical preparations for photographic uses, enzymatic preparation of glucose, human blood,  ametrine, polymers of vinyl chloride, certain articles of stone or of other mineral substances and electrical apparatus for switching or protecting electrical circuits (NCM 3002.12.36, 5402.46.00, 3707.90.21, 3507.90.49, 3002.13.00, 2933.69.91, 3904.90.00, 5402.20.00, 6815.10.90 and 8535.90.00)

  • NCM 3002.12.36 the import tariff was reduced from 4% to 0% for a quota of 556.080 10 g doses;
  • NCM 5402.46.00 and 5402.20.00 the import tariff was reduced from 18% to 2% for a quota of 33,000 tonnes and 7,000 tonnes respectively;
  • NCM 3707.90.21 the import tariff was reduced from 14% to 2% for a quota of 1,700 tonnes; 
  • NCM 3507.90.49 the import tariff was reduced from 14% to 2% for a quota of 4,000 tonnes,
  • NCM 3002.13.00 the import tariff was reduced from 2% to 0% for a quota of 500 grammes;
  • NCM 2933.69.91 the import tariff was reduced from 14% to 2% for a quota of 7,500 tonnes, 
  • NCM 3904.90.00 the import tariff was reduced from 14% to 2% for a quota of 3,794 tonnes; 
  • NCM 6815.10.90 the import tariff was reduced from 14% to 2% for a quota of 200 tonnes;
  • NCM 8535.90.00 the import tariff was reduced from 16% to 2% for a quota of 500 units.

In addition to these new tariff-rate quotas, this Ordinance also extended the duration period on three other tariff lines (see related measures).

 
Update
On April 24, 2018, the Brazilian Foreign Trade Council (CAMEX) issued Resolution 27 renewing the reduced import duty on NCM 8535.90.00 for a quota of 500 units for another twelve months.
