In March 2017, the Indian Directorate General of Antidumping & Allied Duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry initiated an antidumping investigation on imports of fishing nets from Bangladesh and China. In April 2018, definitive duties were imposed.

Anti-dumping

The antidumping investigation was initiated on 31 March 2017. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code subheading: 5608.11.10. The investigation follows the application lodged by the Indian Fishnet Manufacturers Association.

On 10 April 2018, the Indian authorities imposed a definitive antidumping duty on imports of fishnet or fishing nets from China or Bangladesh. The rate of duty on imports from China is USD 1.51 or 2.19 per kg depending on the company. The rate of duty on imports from Bangladesh is USD 2.69 per kg. The duty is in force for a period of five years.
