Labour market access

Effective 1 July 2011, the government of Canada has capped the number of applications it considers for the Skilled Worker Program. Under the new regime, a total of 10'000 applications shall be considered. In addition, no more than 500 applications will be considered for each of the 29 priority occupations.
 
The restriciton compares to a total of 13'800 applications Canada Immigration and Cititzenship reported for the year prior to the change.
