In April 2011, the government of Argentina initiated a new anti-dumping investigation and a definitive duty was imposed in October 2012. In October 2017, a sunset review was initiated and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in April 2019. In March 2021 a sunset review was initiated.

On April 7, 2011, the Government of Argentina initiated an anti-dumping investigation on certain type of sunglasses, mountings, and corrective spectacles from China. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following items of MERCOSUR Harmonized System: 9003.11.00, 9003.19.10, 9003.19.90, 9004.90.10 and 9004.10.00.
On October 5, 2012, the Government of Argentina adopted anti-dumping duties against imports of certain types of sunglasses, mountings, and corrective spectacles from China. The measure consists on anti-dumping duties of between 13.09 and 16.88 dollars per unit.
On 4 October 2017, the Argentinian authorities initiated a sunset review of the antidumping duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China. This follows the application lodged by CÁMARA ARGENTINA DE INDUSTRIAS ÓPTICAS Y AFINES as well as the companies LGI S.R.L., FADANOVA S.A., ALBACETE S.A., MÁS DE LO QUE VES S.R.L. and RANIERI ARGENTINA S.A. The duty remains in force for the duration of this investigation.
On 1 April 2019, the Argentinian authorities extended the definitive anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of sunglasses, mountings, and corrective spectacles from China following the conclusion of the sunset review. The rate of duty is 154% on imports of goods lower than a specified FOB value. The FOB value varies depending on the subject good. The measure is in force for a period of two years.
On 31 March 2021, the Argentinian authorities announced the initiation of a sunset review of the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China. This follows the application lodged on by CÁMARA ARGENTINA DE INDUSTRIA ÓPTICA Y AFINES, LGI S.R.L., RANIERI ARGENTINA S.A., CACIC SPORTS VISION S.R.L. y ALBACETE S.A.
On 13 August 2016, the Argentinian authorities initiated an anti-circumvention investigation on imports of certain sunglasses, eyeglass frames and spectacles declared as originating in Japan (Disposición 38/2016). The product subject to investigation is classified under the following HS code subheadings: 9003.11.00, 9003.19.10, 9003.19.90 and 9004.10.00. This investigation follows suspicion that the definitive anti-dumping duty imposed by Resolución Nº 588 of 4 October 2012 on certain type of sunglasses, mountings, and corrective spectacles from China (see related intervention) is being circumvented by being declared as originating from Japan. The investigation follows the application lodged by Cámara Argentina de Industrias Ópticas y Afines.
