In September 2009, the Turkish government reduced some of the import tariffs it had raised in February 2009. According to consistent press reports, the import tariffs on cold- and hot-rolled coil have been reduced to 9 and 10 percent, respectively.
In February 2009, the Turkish government had raised import tariffs on these two products plus those on hot dip galvanized steels and pre-galvanized steels (to 15 percent).
By virtue of the EU-Turkey Customs Union Agreement of December 22, 1995, the tariffs do not apply to products from EU member states.
