In August 2010, the government of India initiated a new anti-dumping investigation and imposed definitive duties in November 2011. In July 2016, a sunset review was initiated and the definitive duty was extended in August 2017.

Anti-dumping

On 26 August 2010, the Indian authorities initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of opal glassware from the United Arab Emirates and China. The product under investigation is classified under the following HS code: 7013.
 
On 9 August 2011, the Indian authorities imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on opal glassware from China and the United Arab Emirates. The rate of duty on imports from the United Arab Emirates is US$ 0.68 per kg. The rate of duty on imports from China is between US$ 0.82 and 0.98 per kg.
 
On 23 November 2011, the Indian authorities imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of the subject good from China and the United Arab Emirates. The rate of duty on imports from the United Arab Emirates is 36.73% of CIF value. The rate of duty on imports from China is between 41.61% and 110.17% of CIF value.
 
On 8 July 2016, the Indian authorities initiated a sunset review of the above-mentioned anti-dumping duty imposed on imports of opal glassware originating in or exported from China and the United Arab Emirates. This follows the application lodged by La Opala RG Limited and Hopewell Tableware Pvt. Ltd.
 
On 4 August 2016, in connection with the above sunset review the Indian Ministry of Finance issued the Customs Notification extending the definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of the subject good originating in or exported from China and United Arab Emirates until 8 August 2017 (Notification No. 38/2016-Customs (ADD), 04.08.2016).

On 9 August 2017, the Indian Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue extended the definitive antidumping duty on imports of the subject good from China and the United Arab Emirates following the conclusion of the above sunset review. The rate of duty on imports from China is 30.64%. The rate of duty on imports from the United Arab Emirates is 4.38%. The duty is in force for a period of five years.
