Import tariff

On 29 September 2016, Sri Lanka increased the Special Commodity Levy on whole yellow and red lentils. As per an announcement in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 1986/55-2016, the Specal Commodity Levy on lentils rose from Rs. 0.25 per kg. to Rs. 5 per kg and that on split yellow and red lentils from 0.25 per kg. to Rs. 10 per kg.
 The Special Commodity Levy is a composite duty on the product and no other tax, duty, cess etc. is applicable on the said product while the levy is valid.
