On 29 July 2010 the East African Community (EAC) Gazette announced under legal notice number EAC/16/2010 the amendment of the East African Community Customs Management Act 2004, the Third schedule, Part B (Restricted Goods) to include: 'used automobile batteries, lead scrap, crude and refined lead and all forms of scrap metals'.Such goods are henceforth subject to export restrictions from the Community as specified in the aforementioned 2004 Management Act.
