Import tariff

On 4 December 2014, the Central American Common Market via Resolución No. 356-2014 (COMIECO-LXX), announced the creation of 3 new tariff lines in the Central American Common tariff i.e."fruit, nuts and other edible parts of plants (pasta de coco); preparations with a basis of tea" (HS 2008.19.20; 2101.20.10; 2101.20.90). The import tariff applicable on the new tariff lines was increased from 14% to 15%.
The members of the Central American Common Market (CACM) set different implementation dates in terms of this Resolution. Specifically,the implementation dates by CACM's members (in terms of Resolución No. 356-2014 COMIECO-LXX) are as follows:

  • El Salvador: 16 December 2014,
  • Guatemala: 31 December 2014,
  • Nicaragua: 20 March 2015,
  • Costa Rica: 22 May 2015,
  • Panama: Panama was given a wavier on this measure,
  • Honduras: No official information are made available.

The latter two countries were thus excluded from the list of implementing jurisdictions.
