The governor of Arkansas signed into law on May 29, 2015 a bill (HB1003) authorizing the state to issue an $87.1 million bond to help the defense contractor Lockheed Martin win a Defense Department contract and expand its workforce by nearly 600 employees. The Maryland-based company, which is competing against two other firms, wants to build joint light tactical vehicles near East Camden, Arkansas to replace the vehicles known as Humvees.
