On 4 May 2015, the Capital Market Authority (CMA) of Saudi Arabia published the rules for qualified foreign financial institutions investment in listed shares and hereby opened the Saudi stock market to foreign investors.
However, the right to buy shares is only given to foreign investors with at least five years experience on the stock exchange and having 5 billion USD under management. A foreigner is entitled to own max. 49% is a single stock.
