On 3 November 2017, the import duty on wheat and wheaten flour was increased from 75,24c/kg (USD 0.053) and 112,85c/kg (USD 0.079) to 91c/kg (USD 0.064) and 136,50c/kg (USD 0.096) respectively. The products are classified under the following HS code subheadings: 1001.91 and 1001.99 as well as 1101.00.10 and 1101.00.90.

On 15 December 2017, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) decreased the customs duty on wheat and wheaten products, see related state act.
