Export licensing requirement

Effective 1 January 2009, the Ministry of Commerce imposed export licenses on the export of tin and relevant manufacturing products. 
 
The affected product codes are 6090.00.00.00, 8001.10.00.00, 8001.20.10.00, 8001.20.20.00, 8001.20.90.00, 8003.00.00.00, 8007.00.20.00, and 8007.00.40.00.
 
The new rule provides exemptions for companies that meet one of the following criteria:
1) The producer has operated in China for more than three years, exported more than 200 tons or supplied more than 300 tons for exports.
2) The distributor has a registered capital contribution exceeding 2,000,000 RMB (exceedind 500,000 RMB for distributors in western China) and exported 200 tons on average in the previous 3 years (100 tons for distributors in western China).
