Export licensing requirement

On 5 June 2013, the Indian Ministry of Commerce & Industry issued Notification No. 15 (RE-2013)/2009-14 removing the requirement to obtain a Release Order from the Directorate of Sugar for sugar exported under the Advance Authorization scheme.

Under the Advance Authorization Scheme, duty free import of inputs that are physically incorporated in the export goods (here sugar) is provided. Also local fuel, oil, energy, catalysts that are consumed to obtain the existing product could also be tax exempt. These concessions are however subject to meeting the export obligations.
