Import tariff

On 17 August 2010, the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP) adopted General Resolution 2891, which introduces reference prices on imports of single yarn of nylon from specified countries. The items figure under the Mercosur Nomenclature code 5402.45.20.

The corresponding reference prices have been increased from a FOB value of USD 3.00 per kilogramme to a FOB value of ranging between USD 3.00 and USD 5.00 per kilogramme depending on the characteristics of the product.

Originally, this reference price applied to the Republic of Korea, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Chinese Taipei, Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay. With the new legislation, the application of this reference price has been extended to Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, France, Italy, Japan, Netherlands and Portugal.

The measure entered into force on 24 August 2010.

Import Criterion Values
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature for import goods in June 2005. The stated purpose is to strengthen customs control and prevent under-invoicing. Importers are required to provide guarantees for the difference in duties and taxes if the declared price of an import is lower than its reference price (see 7th GTA Report and 2014 National Trade Estimate Report). A list with all current reference prices can be consulted under www.afip.gov.ar/aduana/valoracion/valores.criterios.pdf <U+200E>

Update
On 30 September 2011, the AFIP adopted General Resolution 3190/2011 modifying the applicable reference prices on 5402.45.20. This resolution entered into force on 1 October 2011 (please, see related state ats).
