NoThe Canada Border Services Agency initiated investigations on January 21, 2013, under the Special Import Measures Act, respecting the alleged injurious dumping of certain galvanized steel wire originating in or exported from China, Israel, and Spain and the alleged injurious subsidizing of certain galvanized steel wire originating in or exported from China. The investigations follow a complaint filed by Tree Island Steel Ltd. of Richmond, British Columbia.
On March 22, 2013, the Tribunalmade a preliminary determination that there is evidence that discloses areasonable indication that the dumping and subsidizing of certain GSW from thenamed countries have caused injury or are threatening to cause injury. On April 22, 2013, the President made preliminarydeterminations of dumping of certain GSW originating in or exported from China,Israel and Spain and subsidizing of certain GSW originating in or exported fromChina.
On July 22, 2013, the CBSA made a finaldetermination of dumping in respect of certain galvanized steel wire originatingin or exported from the People's Republic of China, the State of Israel and theKingdom of Spain, and made a final determination of subsidizing in respect ofthe above-mentioned goods originating in or exported from the People's Republicof China.
On August 20, 2013, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal found that the dumping and subsidizing of these products have not caused and are not threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry. Anti-dumping and countervailing duties will therefore not be collected by CBSA.
