With its clarifications of 27 January 2011, the government of Nigeria removed a range of items from its list of banned imports. Rather than their prohibition, the imported goods are now subject to an import tariff of 20 percent plus a special levy of 15 or 20 percent.
Among the now permitted products are cassava, furniture, toothpicks and African lace.
Furthermore, vehicles falling under tariff lines HS 9401900091 or HS 9403900091 may now as old as 15 years. Previously, such vehicles had to be younger than 10 years.
