On February 3, 2010, The Council for Trade and Investment (Consejo de Comercio Exterior e Inversiones, COMEXI) issued Resolution # 550, by which a new type of duty will be applied to imported products of the footwear sector. The new mixed tariff will be applicable on a number of tariff lines from June 1, 2010.

Article 1 of the stated decision changs the current regime in the following way: Instead of the current 30 per cent duty a new mixed duty was introduced (10 per cent ad valorem plus 6 USD per pair).
