Export tax

On 17 June 2016, the Indian Ministry of Finance through Notification No. 38/2016-Customs introduced an export duty of 20% on raw, white and refined sugar.

On 6 July 2016, through Notification No. 41/2016-Customs it was notified that such a duty will not be applicable on exports of sugar under the Advance Authorization Scheme. The Scheme provides duty exemption on exports of products processed from imported raw materials.

The export duty has been withdrawn on 20 March 2018.
