Effective 1 March 2016, Sri Lanka increased the Special Commodity Levy on the import of certain Potatoes from Rs. 15 to Rs. 35 per kg. and on Big Onions from Rs. 5 to Rs. 25 per kg. The Order is valid for 4 months.
The levy on these items was last decreased in November 2015 (see related measure).
The Special Commodity Levy is a composite duty on the product and no other tax, duty, cess etc. is applicable on the said product while the levy is valid.
