On October 29th, 2015, the European Commission announced the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation on imports of tube and pipe butt-welding fittings, of austenitic stainless steel grades used for corrosion-resistant applications, with a greatest external diameter not exceeding 406.4mm and a wall thickness of 16 mm or less, whether or not finished, from China and Chinese Taipei (Notice No 2015/C 357/05).
The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: ex 7307.2310 and ex 7307.2390.
The complaint was lodged on September 14th, 2015 by the Defence Committee of the Stainless Steel Butt-welding Fittings Industry of the European Union, on behalf of producers representing more than 25% of the EU production of the subject goods.
On 28 January 2017, the European Commission imposed a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of the subject good from China and Chinese Taipei (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 2017/141). The amount of duty imposed on imports from China is between 30.7% and 64.9% depending on the company. The amount of duty imposed on imports from Chinese Taipei is between 5.1% and 12.1%depending on the company with the exception of King Lai Hygienic Materials Co., Ltd, which is exempt from anti-dumping duties.
On 26 January 2022, the European Commission announced the initiation of a sunset review of the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China and Chinese Taipei. This follows the application lodged on 26 October 2021 by the Stainless steel butt-welding Fittings industry of the European Union.
