ANNOUNCED AS TEMPORARYNo
On 13 June 2014, the government of Nicaragua introduced a 73,000 tonnes duty-free import quota of white maize. Furthermore, the government also introduced a 20,000 tonnes duty free-import quota on red beans.
The duration of both these duty-free import quotas is until 30 September 2014. The quotas have been introduced to promote additional imports due to a domestic shortage of the basic foodstuffs. Imports outside this quota are subject to the original duty.
